Unique, Detailed and Affordable Pet Portraits & Art by UK Artist Alice Ladkin

I live and work in my studio in Melksham, Wiltshire. I commission pet portraits not only in the UK, but also worldwide.

My passion for drawing and painting began at a young age. I was always fascinated by the beauty of nature and animals, and loved seeing and capturing the world around me in my own way. Exploring colour in particular became almost like an obsession for me; knowing that there are so many colours in things motivates me to extract and exhibit them through art. I explored the idea of pet portraits in my spare time whilst studying Fine Art at college. I taught myself different techniques and began to create my own style.

Shortly after moving home in winter 2011, I decided to pursue a career as a pet portrait artist. Combining my love of animals and art seemed like a perfect choice! I officially started my business in January 2012… and have never looked back!

Alice Ladkin portraitsI am very passionate about my pet portraits and always take great care in ensuring that each pet portrait is completed to a high standard. I strive hard to make sure clients are happy with all aspects of my service, from the initial communication to the safe delivery of each pet portrait

A pet portrait is a special and deeply personal gift that makes a lasting memory of a beloved companion. My passion is creating unique, detailed and affordable pet portraits that are as treasured as the special pets themselves. I adore animals and love to draw cat portraits, dog portraits and horse portraits among many other wonderful pet portraits and wildlife.

I hope that you enjoy viewing my artwork and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like a commissioned pet portrait

To order a pet portrait, posibly as a gift for another person, I will need:

1. Photographs

The first thing you will need to do is find or take some high quality photographs of your pet. I like to see a range of different photographs of your pet before I begin, but I will usually work mostly from one. Try to choose photographs that capture your pet’s personality and character well. The better the photos, the better the portrait!

2. Contact Me

Alice Ladkin dog portraitsOnce your photographs are ready and you have an idea of the size and medium you would like for your pet portrait, you can contact me by email, telephone or text: petportraitsandart@aliceladkin.co.uk  Don’t worry if you are unsure of the specific details of your portrait when you contact me, I can help to advise you and answer any questions you have before you pay your deposit.

Your photos can be sent to me through email, or post if you prefer. Once I have received your photos and requirements, I can discuss your pet portrait with you in detail so I know exactly what you want. I will then be able give you an accurate price quote, including delivery charges.

3. Paying Your Deposit

After you have decided exactly what you want for your pet portrait, I require a deposit of around 30% of the total cost. Full payment is not required until the portrait is complete and you are happy with the results!
Deposit payments can be made via personal cheque, bank transfer or Paypal.

4. Your Pet Portrait in Progress

5. Final Scan/Photograph and Full Payment

As soon as I have completed your pet portrait, you will be sent a high quality, watermarked scan or photograph of it for your approval.
Once you are 100% happy with the finished result, you will need to pay the remainder of your payment in full before your portrait is safely packaged and delivered to you. Full payments can be made in the same way as the deposit via Paypal, bank transfer or cheque.

Materialistic - Dog Beds, Cage Covers and Supplies

Contact: Helen Cooksley

Helen runs a small business called Materialistic in Shropshire making made to order unique luxury pet beds. Why are they unique and luxury? Well no two beds are alike. They are all hand made in a fabric of your choosing. Just tell Helen what colour scheme you are looking for, she'll send you images of the fabric and you can go from there. You can either have conventional fire resistant stuffing or top end luxury with Alpaca fibre. Alpaca fibre is hollow so retains the heat and is also fire retardant and water resistant.

All the beds come with a personalised note to your pet so you can wish them a Happy Birthday, a Merry Christmas etc.

Helen can make a range of beds including cage beds, oval, raised and wicker beds. She also designs and makes her own cage covers and pet coats.

If you’d like to know more, then please call me on 07803505822.

No matter where you are in the country, a bed can be sent to you with love.
